As per official reports, the victims included two men and one woman at first – one of the men was 35, and the woman was 55 years old. Later, another woman was brought to the hospital after being resuscitated but succumbed to her injuries. As of now, it remains uncertain whether there were German nationals among the victims. As the search for the missing individual continued into the evening hours, rescue teams had no success.
Involved in the rescue were the coastguard, helicopters, and personnel from the fire department, medical services, and police. Reports indicated that some victims managed to escape the water on their own. The state broadcaster RTVE reminded the public that the authorities of the Canary Islands had warned of dangerous wave conditions as early as Sunday.
The natural pools, which tourists often consider a hidden gem, can transform into deadly traps during rough seas. With giant waves pulling people into the open sea, strong currents often make it impossible to return safely. Just days earlier, on November 8, similar harrowing scenes were witnessed in Tenerife, resulting in three deaths and 15 injuries. Now, the island faces yet another devastating incident.
