Known as the People's Princess, she continued public and humanitarian work that summer — travelling to the U.S. for a Red Cross gala supporting land-mine victims, meeting Hillary Clinton, and visiting Bosnia for the Land Mine Campaign. She also spent time in St. Tropez with Dodi Al Fayed and her sons, William and Harry.
After about nine days on the French and Italian Riviera, Diana and Dodi arrived in Paris on August 30. Hours later they died in a car crash in the Pont de l'Alma tunnel while travelling from the Hotel Ritz to another city apartment. Her son Harry has said he honours his mother and believes his actions make her proud.
