Context: Demotion and Controversy

Bovino was demoted earlier this year after scrutiny over two deadly encounters in Minneapolis in which ICE agents shot and killed Renee Good and Alex Pretti. Critics argue video from each incident suggested the victims were not trying to harm officers; others maintain the agents acted in self-defense. In a deposition cited by NBC, Bovino said, "When violence is threatened, that's a case-by-case situation... based on what the officer sees."

Rogan's Take on the Shootings

Rogan dismissed claims that Pretti's death was an "execution," saying he didn't believe the man should have been shot and calling Good's death "very ugly to watch." He has also previously compared ICE tactics to Nazi secret police and asked rhetorically, "Are we really going to be the Gestapo?"
