Mochrie, 68, remembers when the late actor flew down from Vancouver while shooting One Hour Photo to appear on Whose Line Is It Anyway? He calls Williams 'incredibly generous' and funny, someone who learned the crew's names fast and blended in as one of the cast. Williams stayed after the taping for another hour of bits, and Mochrie recalls he literally sweated through three shirts. At one point a woman shouted for his shirt; Williams tossed it and the crew heard a 'splat.' Mochrie calls the visit a highlight and says the show's energy was ramped up 150% that night.
Mochrie also recalls Sid Caesar appearing on the show around his 80th birthday. Though Caesar arrived frail and leaning on a cane, his double-talk routine transformed him onstage. Mochrie translated a bit for him, got a wink and a thumbs-up, and felt profoundly inspired — even though he hadn’t grown up watching Caesar's originals.
